Hi, my name is Heather Montoya and I am the founder and CEO of Flow Coaching and I help highly sensitive parents who are struggling with self-care and overwhelm to create and implement a plan to achieve a calm life. I help them find balance among the chaos.
The reason I began working with parents in this way is because I have lived the chaotic, way out-of-balance life and I know how horrible it is. Feeling overwhelmed at seemingly minor issues. Not knowing where to focus my attention because there are SOOOO many things on my to-do list-and they all seem important. Being unable to figure out what to do first, or next, or next. Feeling like I was never going to have the life I want. Always feeling like I’m making sacrifices.
When my son was born, I worked at an office 8 hours a day and while I enjoyed my job, I felt like this tiny baby had changed my world and I desperately wanted to be with him. I was jealous that my husband got to be home with him while I went to work. I vowed to myself to find a way to be home with him and to never have to go back to work after our next child was born.
That’s sort of the story of my life, and a lesson I always try to remember when life gets tough. It always works out. One way or another, we always find a way to make it work out.
I used the lay off as an opportunity to start my business that I had been thinking about and working on in my “spare time.” Haha, what’s that, right?
Those first few months at home were a tough transition. As funny as it sounds, I didn’t really know how to take care of a toddler all day. What the heck was I supposed to do? Gradually, we started getting out of the house more, and doing more together, and I loved it. I slowly started working on my at-home business as well, and learning how to balance all of this madness. I won’t lie-it took a lot longer than I expected.
I tried various projects, some worked great, some were utter failures. But every one taught me something about myself, my business, and my calling in life.
Now, I work with highly sensitive parents who are trying to create calm and balance, achieve challenging goals, and get to a place where they are happy, healthy, full of energy, and LOVE their lives.
When we take control of our lives so we feel full of energy and love life, we are better able to become the positive, energetic, fun parent we want to be . The path taken does not matter. What matters is that we do what works best for ourselves and our family. Sometimes, that’s easier said than done though.
